The Science of Story

Joseph Campbell identified the Story Pattern called "The Hero's Journey."  He did his research, over his lifetime, reading every story, from all cultures, ancient and old, coming to the conclusion that there is one universal story pattern. This pattern is experienced by all humans, during the course of each of their own Hero's Journey, where their perceptions are changed along the way. At the end of the journey, the Hero sees things differently, so has become a new person.  This philosophy is the basis for the ideology of the Self Help Industry.  People are looking to change themselves, become better, and this is the result of acquired knowledge that changes one's perception and consequent decisions to act.
